many wild animals are facing the danger of extinction, because the environment that they are living in has changed greatly. for example, with the developmet of cities, the using of insecticide and serious pollution, their living areas have become narrowcr and narrower. many of the wild animals, now are confronted with food crisis. at the same time, man is killing off species just for getting their fur, skin, horns, teeth and meat.

in order to protect our resources of ecology, people should realize that the loss of any species is at least the loss of source of knowledge and a source of natural beauty. there fore, measures of the following should be taken: pollution standards are made to keepdown poisons; killing off certain rare species is prohibited; national parks should be set up as wild life, reserves.only if we human beings take some drastic measures can wild animals be preserved.

in the past, there have been many endangered animals. now they are etinct. does it matter? has our environment been affected by their absence? has the quality of our own life been changed? the answer to these questions is "yes." it does matter if we destroy an endangered species habitat to develop more farmland, housing or industrial parks. there is a delicate balance of nature. if one small part is removed, it will affect all the other parts. for eample, if certain trees are cut down, bats will have no place to roost. if they cannot roost, they cannot breed.

if there are no bats, there will be no animal, or bird to eat certain insects that plague our crops.our environment has been affected by the absence of certain animals. certain flowers are pollinated by butterflies which migrate from canada to meico. some of the breeding grounds of these butterflies were destroyed. now these flowers are disappearing from certain areas. we will no longer be able to enjoy their beauty.the quality of our life has been changed. america used to be covered with giant trees. now we have to visit them in one small park. rainforests around the world are being cut down to make room for humans. we will never be able to see or study this fragile ecosystem.i would encourage us humans to look for other alternatives for our farmlands, housing, and industries. we have alternatives; the animals do not.

“大哥哥，你在干嘛呢?”一天下午，在我们住的楼下，我看见一个大哥哥拿着如把扫帚，在空中挥来舞去，不禁好奇地问道。可是这个大哥哥对我毫不理睬，自顾自地继续在空中挥舞扫帚。我有些无趣，又不愿意走开，就静静地坐在一旁观察。仔细看去，我发现原来在空中飞舞着一群蜻蜓。这才恍然大悟，原来他是在捉蜻蜓啊!

忽然，大哥哥兴奋地喊了起来：“抓住了，抓住了!”可是到跟前一看，地上有一只蜻蜓一动也不动，好像死了一样。他觉得很失望，上去就想一脚踩死它。我急忙冲了上去，大声地说：“你不要，给我吧!”大哥哥也不稀罕，没说什么，自顾自地走开了。

我小心翼翼地捧起了这只蜻蜓，放在手心里，心疼地看着它。它该有多疼啊?它妈妈该多着急啊?

我想拯救这只小蜻蜓，就让它在我手心里静静地休息了一会儿。我发现，它在挣扎着想扑腾翅膀，于是，我轻轻地把它抛到空中。让我惊奇的是，它居然能飞起来，只是飞得很低，飞得不远，很快就掉在地上。我跑步上前，再次轻轻捧起它，小心地呵护它，再次送它起飞。

就这样，一次，两次，三次……一次次的失败，我们都没有放弃。终于在第八次，小蜻蜓飞起来了，飞得高高的，飞得远远的。我目送着它渐渐远去，心里别提多高兴了。

在这之后的日子里，每当我走在路上，看到空中飞舞的蜻蜓，我总觉得，其中有一只，不，好像好几只，都在向我打招呼。我想，也许，我拯救的那一只就在里面，在它周围的，是它的爸爸妈妈、兄弟姐妹……
